Lesson

Crypto is different from a bank in one big way: there is often no one who can reverse a mistake. That sounds scary, but a few simple habits prevent most problems.

Rule 1: Your recovery phrase is never shared

Not with support staff, not with a friend, not with a website. Real companies will never ask for it. Anyone who asks is trying to take your funds.

Rule 2: Slow down

Scammers create urgency: "Act in 10 minutes or lose your account." Real problems can wait while you check. Pause, close the message, and open the app yourself.

Rule 3: Download only from official sources

Fake apps and look-alike websites are common. Type the address yourself or use the official app store listing, and check the publisher name.

Rule 4: Test small first

When you send to a new address for the first time, try a tiny amount and confirm it arrived before sending more.

Rule 5: If it sounds too good, it is

Nobody can promise guaranteed returns or "double your crypto." Giveaways that ask you to send first are always scams.

L2E will never ask for your recovery phrase, private key or passwords. Every practice exercise here uses simulated funds only.

Key points

  • Never share your recovery phrase — with anyone, ever.
  • Urgency is a warning sign. Pause and check.
  • Use official downloads only.
  • Send a small test before larger amounts.
  • Guaranteed returns are not real.
